Bio-medical Engineer
Responsibilities
- Using Enterprise level medical segmentation software to extrapolate patient scan data into 3D models
- Collaborate with clinicians to design custom-made surgical devices for use in orthopedic procedures using a suite of CAD software applications
- 3D Printing of medical devices to a high standard using a variety of technologies in different materials, post-processing, finishing and inspecting outputs
- Managing the design, manufacturing and quality processes within a hub facility to maintain the continuous improvement of the ISO 13485:2016 certified Quality Management System
- Maintenance and calibration of the facility's 3D printers as and when required
- Liaising with the Sales Team, including developing of new business opportunities
Experience/qualifications/ skills
- The applicant should have a degree in Bio-medical Engineering or similar related discipline. Vocational qualification to a similar level will also be considered.
- Demonstratable industry experience in a biomedical engineering or other engineering / medical roles
- Experience in medical segmentation software applications is essential, with previous exposure to patient-specific device design or manufacture preferred
- A good knowledge of human anatomy and/or surgical procedures. Preference is for candidates with experience in orthopedics and oncology.
- Knowledge of working with a Quality Management System is preferred
- An understanding and experience with working with 3D printers
- Good project management and communication skills
Location
The role will be based at a the Insight Surgery's office in the Texas Medical Center, Houston.
This role will involve some travel around the region to visit local hospitals, as well as further institutions and events from time to time.
Salary
Competitive salary based on experience. Our performance-based bonus scheme provides a percentage of the candidate’s salary up to 12% per annum, paid quarterly.
