Position : Dietitian
Job Summary
Uses knowledge of dietetics to assess, evaluate, make recommendations, establish, and implement individual nutrition care plans appropriate for all types of patients. Provides nutrition education in both individual and group settings for all aspects of normal and/or therapeutic nutrition. In addition, it provides consultation and education to the staff individually or in groups. Assists in supervising Food Service operations. 25-30 hours/week and rotates on-call weekends and holidays. Assists in the Diet Tech office as assigned.
Education / Licensure / Certification
Graduate of an accredited dietetic curriculum with a baccalaureate or master's degree.
Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Special Equipment, Skills or Other Requirements:
Must have the ability to relate with physicians, patients, family members and staff in regard to Food and Nutrition practices, principles and theories. Good communication skills.
Special Considerations (Age-Specific requirements)
Must know food and nutritional requirements for infants, adolescents, youth, young adults, adults, middle-aged adults, and geriatrics.
Work environment and hazards:
Acute patient care environment and/or home care setting with possible exposure to transmittable diseases. Involvement with patients and family members who exhibit stress-related behaviors due to effects of illness. Within patient homes, they may be subject to odors, smoke, unsanitary or poorly maintained conditions, clutter, insect infestation, and temperature extremes. Driving conditions subject to Michigan weather. Contact with food production area.
Work Contact Group:
Patients, families, all hospital departments and physicians.
Special Physical Demands:
Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently. Moves equipment and supplies necessary for job function.
