Minimum Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited National League of Nursing School (NLN) or The Accreditation Commission for Education Nursing (ACEN)
• Successful completion of at least one (1) nursing fundamentals class.
• Successful completion of at least one (1) med surg, hands-on clinical rotation.
• Student must be able to provide proof of completion of such/ passing grade from their school before start of employment.
• Certification in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.
  
  
  

These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, following the mission, values, and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and guests.

Job Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

• Broad knowledge in nursing fundamentals.
• The extern will blend information learned in the classroom and learn to provide hands on nursing care, under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse in an acute care, MedSurg setting.
• Performs job-specific responsibilities after completion of system-wide, facility and/or unit-specific orientation.
• Maintains clinical skills and sufficient job knowledge to perform functions on the annual equipment/skills’ educational assessment.
• Documents objective and subjective data on the appropriate medical record.
• Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team.
• Performs other duties as assigned
