POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership and operational oversight of the medical oncology and infusion practice at Coldwater Regional Hospital. With oversight from the VP/CNO, this individual is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating management and administrative systems related to the clinical operations of the clinic.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Provide leadership for the day-to-day clinical operations of the medical oncology and infusion services clinic.
2. Develops, implements and evaluates policies and procedures for oncology and infusion therapy as required by regulatory agencies and quality standards to ensure communication and coordination throughout the service line.
3. Oversee the monitoring and enhancing efficiency, throughput, and growth of the operations of the clinic and its programs.
4. Coordinates the development and preparation of operating and capital budgets for the clinic. Monitors adherence to budgets and, when necessary, determines the reason for the variance and develops a plan to resolve the variance. Regularly reports on budgetary performance to the hospital vice president for patient care services/CNO.
5. Plans and recommends organization of department and staffing requirements. Selects, trains, supervises, develops, appraises performance, initiates, and recommends promotions, discharge, and all other personnel actions in conjunction with human resources as needed. Establishes/oversees work schedules and staff assignments.
6. Directs the design and implementation of medical oncology and infusion therapy staff orientation, in-service programs, and continuing education consistent with professional and accreditation standards.
7. Maintains contact with physicians, referring organizations, and patients to identify and resolve issues to plan new service improvements. Utilizes patient and outside organization feedback to regularly improve quality, service delivery, operational efficiency, and new service development.
8. Leads front-line supervisors through facilitation, coaching, ongoing training, and role-modeling leadership behaviors to enhance quality patient care and foster employee development. Monitors staff performance and employee engagement and takes appropriate action when necessary. Completes annual performance evaluations per the hospital guidelines.
9. Oversees best clinical practice application and assigns resources as needed to implement best clinical practices.
10. Develop and monitor plans designed to ensure an optimal patient experience and treatments in medical oncology and infusion therapy.11. In collaboration with the hospital VP of patient care and oncology medical director, develops and implements short and long range objectives to improve the overall operation of medical oncology and infusion services.
12. Serves as a liaison to educational institutions to provide educational opportunities to students.
13. Strategizes with the VP of patient care services ensuring necessary leadership for the planning and delivery of medical oncology patient services and development, expansion, and service growth as it relates to medical oncology and infusion services.
14. In collaboration with the oncology medical director, develops and implements standardized cancer and infusion care processes.
15. Maintains expertise through appropriate educational/organizational activities.
16. Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of and advocacy for Coldwater Hospital mission and values.
17. Participates in hospital committees and performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the service line.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an ADN with equivalent years of cancer care experience.
Skills: Able to facilitate multi-disciplinary work groups. Must demonstrate success in process improvement techniques and customer service. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated budgetary, written, and verbal communication skills.
Years of Experience: 5 years of progressive clinical experience in an acute care institution with a minimum of charge RN experience.
License: RN License
Certification: Must maintain CPR certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Years of Experience: 1-2 years of nursing leadership experience.
Certification: Medical oncology and chemotherapy certifications.
