Job Duties:
- Serve as a role model and advocate in the delivery of compassionate, comprehensive care to patients and their families.
- Utilize expert knowledge, skills, and abilities to strengthen clinical practice in their specialty throughout the organization.
- Provide expert nursing care to their selected patient population.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and revises plans of care accordingly, discusses health care plan with the patient and healthcare team, and documents in the health record.
- Prescribes and treats patients accordingly.
- Participates in the development and evaluation of patient and family education materials.
- Consult with nursing staff in the development of teaching plans for patients and their families.
- Specialty procedures to instruct:
- Arterial (radial access only) and venous access (peripheral access only).
- Insert central line
- PICC line insertion
- Remove abscess drains and nephrostomy tubes
- Tunnel line removal
- Paracentesis
- Thoracentesis
- Act as an internal consultant to staff and the community on healthcare issues in the area of expertise.
- Facilitate research interpretation and clinical studie
- Promote the professional development of all nurses through specialty training and education.
- Fosters staff education and development.
- Serves as a role model and resource person throughout the organization for their clinical specialty.
- Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability needed to ensure care appropriate to the age and needs of the population served.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- A Master’s degree in Nursing required
- A current RN license in the State of Illinois required
- A current APN license in the State of Illinois required
- Current DEA License required at time of hire
- Certification as an advanced practice nurse by the appropriate certifying organization required
- Clinical experience is strongly preferred
