- Provides pharmacy services to optimize pharmaceutical care.
- Provides drug information to patients/health care professionals.
- Exercises applicable legal and professional controls for controlled substances maintained/dispensed.
- Meets administrative requirements of the department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required. After orientation, up to 3 month’s experience on this job is required to perform essential functions and to handle emergency situations.
- Current Ohio license as a pharmacist by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy required. Current registration as a pharmacist by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Broad knowledge in pharmacy practice. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative and JCAHO standards related to medication preparation and dispensation.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and work with graphics.
- Provides diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to the patient based on physician orders. The direct result of any error could have serious consequences for the patient.
- Some originating and planning of work is needed. Tasks are varied and standard procedures often do not cover the situation. Supervision is available if needed but the worker is expected to work out problems of medium difficulty without much direction.
- Works regularly with some information, such as medical records or reports, financial reports, information on computer screens, and records that are restricted to specific persons; discretion and integrity are recognized requirements. Must comply with confidentiality policy.
- Operational and/or patient care errors have adverse effects on the entire hospital system and on relationships outside the hospital.
- Has regular contacts with physicians, patients, families, the general public, and/or other departments to furnish or obtain information or reports. Requires tact to avoid misunderstandings in contacts where improper handling could affect results. Tact is required in these contacts and the employee assumes responsibility for harmonious relationships. Treats everyone with dignity and respect.
