POSITION: Temporary Career Preparation Supervisor

REPORTS TO: CDSS Director

DEPARTMENT: Career Development

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Job Summary: Directs staff engaged in providing training and support for all students during their first 90 days on Center and ensures departmental programs and standards meet all DOL, PRH, Center and Corporate requirements. Responsible for organizing, planning, and administering programs to ensure students success during their first 90 days in the program.

Duties

  • Oversees the program for the students first 90 days on Center.
  • Coordinates with other Center departments to ensure student success the first 90 days on Center, to include but not limited to Career Success Standards, Career Services, Health and Wellness, CMHC, Academics, Records, OA and CTS, and Administration
  • Develops and implements a program for retention of the students in the first 90 days.
  • Develops a program to ensure that incoming students have been contacted and are prepared for their Job Corps career.
  • Develop and implement a training plan that ensures that staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities.
  • Oversees Career Preparation staff.
  • Curriculum Development.
  • Trains all staff on MyPACE and other training topics as required.
  • Monitors statistical performance and student accountability.
  • Develops corrective action plans as needed.
  • Communicates with and updates the CDSS Director on the status of the program and determines policies according to DOL, Corporate and Center expectations.
  • Submits weekly report outlining progress, problems, and contemplated changes in the department.
  • Participates in Student Evaluation Performance (ESP’s) and evaluates student employee’s performance and employability skills. Provides regular feedback to student.
  • Ensures that E PARs and other required documents are completed.
  • Provides regular feedback to student’s regarding appropriate employability skills and career success standards.
  • Monitors and reviews Center Information System (CIS) reports for accuracy and required action.
  • Assists students in developing career goals and objectives.
  • Follow the CDSS/CSS/BMS Plans and Procedures and recommend changes as needed.
  • Ensures the Student Handbook is always up to date.
  • Responsible for required Center Report Card measures.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Complies with all Department of Labor (DOL) guidelines, Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCCP) regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate career success skills.
  • Adheres to required property controls policies and procedures.
  • Participation in Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) mandated staff training is mandatory.
  • Monitors budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Above average public speaking skills and experience in same, above average verbal and written skills, above average problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills, computer literacy, ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends, ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, ability to travel periodically.

Experience: One to two years related experience working with youth ages 16-24 preferred. Minimum of one year in a relevant leadership position.

Education: Associate degree or relevant experience (to include management/leadership) required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Driver’s License.
