Job Overview - Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU), Anesthesia/Recovery Nurse
Delivery of age specific, direct patient care. The RN provides nursing care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process and within the framework of the Department of Nursing Standards of Patient Care and Specialty Specific Standards of Patient Care. The RN assumes leadership responsibilities, which includes delegation of work to other levels of employees. Compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia. Duties
- Monitor patients post-anesthesia to ensure safe recovery
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Assess patient conditions and report changes to the healthcare team
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Utilize specialized skills such as neonatal ventilator management, IV insertion, and tube feeding
- Work in a fast-paced environment, potentially involving procedures like cardiac catheterization, spinal taps, and infant care
- Operate within an outpatient or teaching hospital setting with exposure to laboratory environments
Requirements
- Valid RN license and BLS certification
- Previous experience in PACU or related critical care setting preferred
- Proficiency in handling post-anesthesia complications and emergencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Familiarity with advanced procedures like OR protocols and spinal taps
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to evolving healthcare practices
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $66.40 - $67.78 per hour
