Job Summary
A sleep technologist is able to perform the duties defined for a sleep technician and is credentialed as an RPSGT. Works under the general supervision of the Sleep Lab Medical Director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in lab and home sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.
Sleep Technologist, Polysomnographer
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate polysomnographic equipment before each study
- Perform diagnostic evaluations during sleep studies
- Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological parameters during sleep
- Score and analyze sleep study results
- Assist in the preparation of patients for sleep studies
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of procedures performed
Requirements
- Experience working in a sleep center or related medical setting
- Proficiency in medical terminology and respiratory therapy
- Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Ability to interpret and analyze data related to sleep medicine
- Competency in conducting physical examinations and assessing patient conditions
- Understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to sleep disorders
