Position Details
Insignia is seeking a part-time or full-time Senior Archaeologist / Principal Investigator to join our team. This role involves overseeing and directing cultural resource subcontractors, providing technical advice on cultural resource management, conducting technical reviews of reports, preparing cultural assessments for projects, facilitating Section 106 compliance, and performing additional activities to ensure regulatory compliance. We welcome applications from California-based remote candidates. Insignia is flexible and open to both part-time or full-time roles. While local candidates near Encinitas are preferred, remote arrangements can be accommodated if needed.
Job Description
- Provide expert advice on avoidance and minimization strategies related to the protection of cultural resources.
- Ensure full regulatory compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and other regulations that protect cultural resources.
- Conduct record searches and prepare reports on occasion.
- Perform cultural resources site visits on limited occasions.
- Oversee and direct subconsultant cultural resource firms.
- Provide technical review of reports.
- Interface with Native American tribes and organizations.
- Interface with client cultural resource subject matter experts.
- Facilitate Section 106 compliance with lead federal agencies.
- Facilitate compliance with cultural resource regulations pertaining to projects.
- Assist and support marketing and business development efforts by developing scopes of work and cost estimates, as well as through networking.
