Position Details

Insignia is looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner/Project Manager to join our team. Responsibilities include project management, frequent interaction with clients/regulators, and technical review. The position also offers the opportunity to supervise staff and serve as a mentor to others. This is a hybrid role that is based out of Insignia’s Menlo Park headquarters.


Job Description

  • Manage the routing, siting, permitting, and/or environmental compliance aspects of energy projects.
  • Oversee the completion of environmental deliverables by technical staff in accordance with approved budgets and schedules.
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings related to project progress and milestones.
  • Assign, coordinate, and oversee the work of technical professionals while providing technical guidance and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with peers and provide clients with technical advice and guidance regarding compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical review and quality control of environmental assessment documents, permit application packages, technical studies, and related client deliverables in accordance with industry and Insignia standards, regulatory requirements, and agency expectations.
  • Supervise junior staff and provide technical advice, career guidance, and performance management.
  • Continue to advance skills and job-related knowledge through training and conference attendance.
  • Assist and support marketing and business development efforts by developing scopes of work and cost estimates, as well as through networking.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, ecology, environmental science or planning, or another related science.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with environmental consulting in a similar role, with at least 2 years of demonstrated experience serving in a project management support role (such as an Assistant Project Manager).
  • Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to environmental protection, including the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act.
  • Previous experience participating in the management of projects, including client interaction, technical review of deliverables, schedule and budget controls, and team oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as confidence in dealing with clients, regulators, and team members.
  • Ability to exercise informed and independent decision making.
  • Excellent writing and technical editing skills, with advanced experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Rigorously detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

  • Willingness and ability to travel when needed.


Benefits/Compensation

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $160,000.
