Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join their established public accounting firm in New York City. In this elevated position, you will manage complex tax engagements for high-net-worth individuals while supervising junior staff and serving as a key point of contact for sophisticated clients.
- Manage preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives for clients with significant investment portfolios
- Supervise and mentor junior tax associates, providing technical guidance and review
- Lead client meetings to discuss tax strategies, planning opportunities, and compliance matters
- Identify and research complex tax issues affecting high-net-worth clients
- Coordinate with wealth management teams, attorneys, and financial advisors on integrated planning
- Manage IRS and state tax authority correspondence, examinations, and resolution processes
- Prepare detailed tax projections and quarterly estimated payments for clients
- Stay abreast of tax legislation changes and communicate impacts to clients and team members
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Master's in Taxation strongly preferred)
- 3-5 years of progressive public accounting experience with emphasis on high-net-worth taxation
- Active CPA license or pursuing a CPA license
- Proven experience managing tax engagements for clients with net worth exceeding $10M
- Strong technical knowledge of estate planning, trust taxation, and investment structures
- Advanced proficiency with professional tax software and research tools
- Excellent project management skills with ability to meet strict deadlines
