What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unmanned Systems Technician position at Insitu, Inc.?
We are seeking a highly skilled UAS Operator to join our team at Insitu, Inc. As a key member of our team, you will operate and maintain unmanned aircraft systems for various platforms, utilizing your expertise to coordinate customer missions and deliver full-motion video and payload data.
Responsibilities:
- Operating unmanned aircraft systems in compliance with checklists and safety protocols.
- Conducting preflight planning, including mission briefings, weather forecasts, Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), Special Instructions (SPINs), and airspace requirements.
- Evaluating customer's mission requirements and determining operational needs.
- Collecting and analyzing data obtained from flights; completing post-mission reports/logs.
- Collaborating with team members and customers to plan and execute UAS missions.
- Performing UAS and ground support equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Coordinating with Company subject matter experts to resolve issues beyond the scope of field maintenance capability, as needed.
- Conducting inventory of UAS spares/components and reporting cycle counts.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience operating and/or maintaining UAS platforms.
- Knowledge and experience providing direct support and service to customers in a field environment.
- Strong customer service background and excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to deploy to remote and at times austere environments for 4-to-6-month assignments; willingness to travel up to 70% of the year.
- Ability to pass customer-mandated medical, dental, and psychological pre-deployment screening process (ex. DOD).
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs. and work in outdoor environments, including at times extreme high and low temperatures, and variable weather.
- Prior military experience or experience working with military customers.
- An active Top Secret clearance.
