Job Summary:
As a Qualified Elevator Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting elevator and escalator systems to ensure they meet safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine and periodic inspections of elevators, escalators, and other vertical transport systems.
• Evaluate equipment to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
• Review installation documents, maintenance records, and previous inspection reports to track compliance history.
• Identify and document deficiencies or violations, issuing inspection reports and recommendations for corrective action.
• Collaborate with elevator contractors, building owners, and service providers to ensure repairs and maintenance align with safety standards.
• Stay current with code changes, industry trends, and best practices in elevator inspection and safety.
• Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to maintain QEI credentials and enhance skills. If not already licensed in the State of Maryland, must complete application to obtain it.
Qualifications:
• Valid QEI certification from recognized professional organizations, ie NAESA
• Prior experience in elevator installation, maintenance, or inspection is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of elevator and escalator codes and standards (such as ANSI A17.1/ASME A17.7 and relevant local codes).
• Physically fit, with the ability to perform assessments in various environments, including confined spaces.
Working Conditions:
• Primarily field-based inspections in various locations, primarily in Baltimore but includes entire Mid-Atlantic area.
• May require working in elevated areas or confined spaces.
• Travel is necessary and varies depending on the location of job sites.
Salary:
• $75,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and potential benefits including health insurance and retirement plans.
