About the role
The Vice President (VP) of Accounting is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions. This role ensures the company's financial health by maintaining accurate records, optimizing accounting processes, and providing strategic financial guidance. The VP of Accounting works closely with the VP of Finance to ensure alignment of administrative and operational transactions, and collaborates with senior leadership to align financial strategies with overall business goals.
What you'll do
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial integrity.
- Manage timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making.
- Partner with the executive leadership to develop long-term financial strategies.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including internal annual audit, addressing findings and implementing recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvements in accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting and ERP systems, as needed.
- Streamline financial reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities.
- Recruit and retain top accounting talent to strengthen the department.
- Serves as the lead point of contact for the external tax accountant to ensure timely preparation, filing, and payment of taxes.
- Complete financial strategy projects as determined by executive leadership.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
