The Role



We are currently seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) Admissions Counselor who has prior experience on a PA Program Admissions Committee and is enthusiastic about guiding students through the application process. As a PA Admissions Counselor with our organization, your primary responsibility will be to assist students in excelling in all aspects of the PA program application process. Your goal is to work individually with students to identify their weaknesses, boost their confidence, and improve their overall application. You will closely mentor students, monitor their academic progress, and guide them through the application process, ultimately helping them secure a position at their desired PA program. This role is crucial to our organization's dedication to providing exceptional academic support and aiding students in reaching their educational and professional aspirations. This role can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Work with prospective PA program candidates, helping them identify opportunities to enhance their profiles and draft compelling application materials
  • Manage relationships with applicants and families while providing strategic and tactical guidance on school selection, personal statements, resumes, recommendations, interviews, and the overall PA program application process
  • Identify optimal PA programs for individual students; provide detailed feedback and guidance on their research into specific programs, ensuring alignment with the student's background, goals, and specialty interests
  • Support students with project planning, helping them create and adhere to effective timelines through Excel-based trackers or other tools
  • Stay up-to-date on the PA school application process, including CASPA (Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants) requirements, GRE preparation, clinical hour expectations, and program-specific criteria, to advise prospective and existing clients on appropriate program selection and application strategies

Qualifications

  • Admissions Committee Experience: Previous experience serving on a PA program admissions committee or selection board, offering valuable insights into the admissions process
  • 5-7 years of experience in PA program admissions counseling, coaching, or related fields
  • Graduation from or a current student at a top US PA program
  • A passion for mentoring and guiding students
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to assist students in managing complex application timelines
  • Exceptional English reading, writing, and editing skills to support students in crafting impactful application materials
  • Strong verbal communication skills to clearly convey advice and feedback
  • Expertise in project management to help students stay on track during the rigorous application process
  • Experience in education, coaching, tutoring, or admission consulting
