Overview
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and senior care environments. Duties
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of our residents.
- Schedule and manage daily, weekly, and monthly activities to ensure a diverse range of options.
- Collaborate with staff to facilitate recreational therapy sessions that promote physical activity and cognitive engagement.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation in programs.
- Assess the needs of residents through regular evaluations to adapt activities accordingly.
- Coordinate special events and outings that foster community involvement and socialization.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continuously improve programming.
- Provide support for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments through tailored activities.
- Work closely with social workers and other professionals to address individual resident needs related to aging issues.
Qualifications
- Experience in schedule management within a recreational or therapeutic setting is preferred.
- 2 years of experience in assisted living, senior care, or home community care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy practices and principles is an asset.
- Familiarity with social work principles related to aging issues counseling is beneficial.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Experience working with dementia care strategies is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
