What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Regulatory Compliance & Nutrition (Dunkin' and Baskin Robbins - US) position at Inspire Brands?
To support Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins cross functional teams with all aspects of regulatory and nutrition related information needs. To manage documentation systems that maintain and secure critical documented intellectual properties such as product/ingredient specifications, nutrition data, ingredient information, allergens, and product recipe builds. To monitor regulatory and competitive landscape to identify areas of opportunity for each brand.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages database systems and develops processes for review, approval, dissemination, and retention of critical and proprietary documentation related to nutritional information for product specifications, retail labeling and consumer information assuring compliance with current federal and local regulations. 30%
- Monitors and research regulations to keep information current and to provide guidance to support groups as required and needed with product R&D. 20%
- Monitors and research competitive, industry, and consumer advocacy trends as they relate to nutrition/wellness to ensure the business is staying relevant. Provide input on the development of nutrition-related corporate strategy. Measure and report on defined nutrition-related goals. 10%
- Maintains the nutritional, ingredient and allergen, and relevant technical information (i.e. caffeine content) on Dunkin' and Baskin Robbins websites and mobile app in accordance with product specifications and current core menus. Provide guidance and recommendations to enhance the consumer experience of digital nutrition content on brand websites/mobile app and technology options of the future. 10%
- Provides input and support in the creation and execution of all related documentation for the brands nutrition criteria. Utilizes information to provide menu guidance for core optimization and new product development. 10%
- Reviews and approves all advertising materials (radio, TV, POP, menu board, digital, etc) and other consumer-facing materials (blogs, press releases, social media announcements, etc.). Ensures compliance with regulations and internal brand standards/requirements. 10%
- Manages the nutritional information on Dunkin Brands menu-boards in accordance with product specifications and current core menus. 5%
- Serves as point-person to project manager(s) to communicate project bottle necks and/or flag items requiring discussion during weekly cross-functional meetings. Pre-reviews project kick-off documents and communicates any related regulatory/nutrition flags for team awareness during discussion. Manages Wrike communications around regulatory/nutrition tasks. 5%
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
- 4-Year degree; Nutrition degree preferred; Registered Dietitian Certification desired
- 5 or more years of experience in quality assurance or related food industry role managing food product information such as nutritional information and ingredient labeling
- 5 or more years of experience in nutrition and regulatory affairs to include: all aspects of food labeling, claims, generate of nutrition facts panels and ingredient statements and product packaging reviews
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in generating nutrition facts, ingredient statements, allergen disclosures, claim compliance
- Proficient in review of retail food packaging for compliance with FDA Code of Federal Regulation requirements
- Proficient with the FDA Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to food and food manufacturing
- Proficient understanding of the USDA Dietary Guidelines
- Proficient with nutrition software such as ESHA Genesis
- Industry-related training coursework/seminars (i.e AIB Labeling, Keller & Heckman Food Law, etc.) required.

PROJECT ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Participate in the initiation and planning phases by gathering project data and requirements and providing input on project activities and timing
- Utilize project management tools and disciplines to complete project assignments and meet deadlines. Help identify and resolve project–related risks and issues
- Participate in the evaluation of the project by giving input for post-project evaluations and lessons learned
- Provides guidance and feedback in all relevant areas of the product development phases to include: project briefs, recipe development, product claims, product packaging, advertising materials, and nutrition and ingredient information

TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Approximately 0-20% travel may be required in support of the position responsibilities. May require travel (US) with overnight stays involving weekends and/or requiring airplane travel
