Overview
We are hiring male DSPs to help males with intellectual disabilities and autism.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and seniors. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to help clients achieve their personal goals and maintain their independence. The DSP will work closely with clients to assist them in daily activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition.
- Assist with medication management and monitor adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Conduct patient monitoring by checking vital signs and reporting any changes in health status.
- Facilitate social interactions and community engagement for clients.
- Advocate for resident rights and promote dignity and respect in all interactions.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients at all times.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records of client progress.
Skills
- Experience in long-term care or caregiving is highly desirable.
- Experience working with indivusals with intellectual disabilities
- Experience working with people with Autism
- Familiarity with senior care practices and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Proficient in meal preparation techniques that cater to dietary restrictions.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks, including monitoring vital signs.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to client-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
