What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records/Admissions Clerk position at Inspire Specialty Hospital?
Inspire Specialty Hospital is a 31 Bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital Located in MWC, OK. We are searching for the right candidate to fill this dual role position. Inspire utilizes a electronic medical record so the position will deal primarlty with the admissions clerk role.
Medical Records Job Duties:
- Coordinate operations for the medical records department, in conjunction with organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide timely and accurate scanning of medical information to EMR.
- Facilitate medical records release of information and management of incoming records/faxes.
- Maintain electronic tracking system for chart releases and physician deficiencies.
- Comply with current medical records regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures in accordance with all payor and regulatory agencies (e.g. HIPAA). Assist staff to implementation and maintenance of compliance in these areas.
- Subject matter expert for medical record documentation with ability to trouble shoot and locate documents, even when misplaced.
- Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Deliver customer service in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate
Admissions Clerk Job Duties:
- Adheres to all policies and procedures documented in the Inspire Specialty Hospital policy and procedure manual.
- Checks patients in upon arrival and enters or updates patient information into the medical information computer software.
- Performs Insurance Authorizations, Insurance Appeals and verification of insurance plans.
- Access patient charts to confirm all admissions documentation/duties has been entered appropriately.
- Scan or oversee that all patient demographics, admissions forms and patient medical information are completed in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Performs other duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying and emailing.
- Follows the mission and vision statement of Inspire Specialty Hospital
- All admissions staff is required to participate in team meetings relevant to admissions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have at least one year of experience working in a medical office
- Medical records experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance procedures required
