What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outreach Coordinator position at inspirED Outreach?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Outreach Coordinator will lead and manage the day-to-day GO Center operations and presentations for inspirED, the Outreach Division of Higher Education Servicing Corporation. HESC currently operates 18 school‐based and community GO Centers (college and career centers) in Arlington, Kennedale and Mansfield ISDs. HESC also collaborates with other organizations for the purpose of expanding and enhancing college access and success programs throughout the greater Arlington area. HESC supports a variety of programs, services and events to help students and families plan and prepare for college, career and life‐long success. The Outreach Coordinator will be expected to continue these efforts and help advance inspirED’s mission. The position requires local travel to school and community sites and events. Overnight travel may be required on occasion in order to attend conferences or trainings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate programming and resources for high school initiatives
- Hire, train, place and supervise GO Center mentors and foster a working relationship with onsite GO Center sponsor
- Work with higher education partners on various administrative aspects of the college work-study program from student selection to payroll
- Document programmatic outputs and compile detailed monthly reports on outreach activities
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of college readiness programs, making data-driven recommendations for improvements in FAFSA outreach and support strategies
- Coordinate the promotion and scheduling of College Prep and FAFSA Prep presentations throughout North Texas
- Assist in the planning and execution of events with district partners, including Destination Success and College and Career Expo
- Co-facilitate, along with Director of Community Affairs and Assistant Director of Outreach, quarterly Advisory Committee meetings
- Actively participate in community engagement efforts as HESC seeks to be a recognized leader in college access and success programs and services in the North Texas region
- Help lead the continued development of inspirED for the purpose of making all programs and activities meaningful, measurable and sustainable
- Perform other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
Experience and Requirements:
- Must have an understanding of college application and financial aid process
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to present confidently and effectively in front of large audiences
- Must be able to manage multiple people in a decentralized setting and tasks at one time
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and G-Suite applications, especially Google Docs
- Must be a proactive, positive and energetic, success‐oriented leader
- Experience as a teacher, counselor, mentor or advisor at a secondary school, post‐secondary school, or organization dedicated to college access and success preferred
