Position Description
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive facilities preventative maintenance services that include the specifications outlined in this document and attachments. The purpose of these facility maintenance requirements is to promote the longevity of equipment and buildings, control costs, and respond to facility emergencies. The BMT will assist in the coordination of maintenance efforts across the network,
interface with vendors, and prioritize work based on assignments and incoming work tickets. This includes scheduling, supplying, and communicating with school-based staff concerning upcoming repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the following scope of work:
Leadership
- Manage time and resources to maintain school facilities in excellent condition.
- Work independently and prioritize work based on network and school-based needs.
- Coordinate vendor work – be on site and interface with school staff regarding maintenance work at school sites.
- Regularly inspect InspireNOLA school sites for cleanliness and maintenance needs.
- The Building Maintenance Technician Lead provides numerous services indoors including: general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and renovations.
- The Building Maintenance Technician Lead replaces light bulbs, tightens cabinetry and appliance hardware, repairs leaking pipes and fixtures, cleans drains, checks wiring, replaces windows, touches up painted surfaces, fixes broken tile, and repairs equipment.
- Additionally, (s)he should be able to cut and replace tile, install flooring, assemble pre-fabricated flooring, and even duplicate or create needed items from the ground up.
- A Building Maintenance Technician’s skill set should also include the ability to repair appliances.
- The Facility Maintenance Technician also provides upkeep and maintenance to outdoor areas such as yards and landscapes, walkways, and exterior buildings. For example, the Facility Maintenance Technician should clean a building's exterior and gutters, and remove leaves, fallen branches, or other debris from walkways. (S)he should be able to weed gardens or flower beds.
- Additionally, (s)he ought to be able to repair outdoor structures and furniture damaged by weather, age, or accident, fix cracks in concrete sidewalks, replace bricks in brick walkways, remove mold from decks, or repair outdoor furniture.
