Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Alaska seeks individuals with professional backgrounds in field science, art, and backcountry guiding to plan and instruct our summer expeditions. Our expeditions are unique, tuition-free, 12-day programs for high school aged youth that emphasize curiosity, creativity, and exploration in remote environments.

We are committed to building a culturally diverse community and strongly encourage candidates who identify as Black, Indigenous, persons of color, queer, LGBTQ , and/or with marginalized genders to apply. *Our programs welcome cisgender girls and transgender, agender, Two Spirit, intersex, nonbinary, and genderqueer youth and those youth who demonstrate allyship with these communities. Organization & Program Overview

Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Alaska empowers youth to lead and succeed through science, art, and outdoor exploration. We are based at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and are part of a collaborative and international partnership of several Inspiring Girls* Expeditions branches hosted at different universities and nonprot organizations. During each 12-day expedition, nine participants explore the intersection of scientic and artistic inquiry and backcountry travel, supported by an instructor team of professional scientists, artists, and guides. In small groups, the participants design and conduct scientic projects that they present to the public at the end of their expedition. We also work intentionally to braid Indigenous Knowledge alongside our western science curriculum through several different avenues.
