Disaster Case Manager – Savannah Disaster Recovery
The Disaster Case Manager for Inspiritus Disaster Recovery projects is responsible for supporting survivors of a disaster by being the organization’s primary representative. This position will work with the survivor from initial engagement to case closure or possible transfer of case to another organization. This position also will potentially require the performance of light volunteer coordination duties to ensure volunteers have a successful experience.
Position Details:
• Full Time nonexempt employee, eligible for benefits
• Department – Disaster Relief
• Support survivor clients through construction approval process, repair, and closing
• Communicate tasks and expectations clearly to team members, providing effective technical training and constructive feedback, when necessary, to ensure compliance with project safety and quality standards.
• Reports to Assistant Director, Disaster Recovery Projects
• Located in Savannah, Ga.
• Monday through Friday: 8:30AM – 5:00PM, possibly weekends, with flexible hours
• Some virtual with 80% local travel required
• Annual Compensation: $52,000
Responsibilities:
• Screens and verifies individual survivor client needs, ensuring the client meets the qualification for Inspiritus assistance. Prioritizes client cases and collects all necessary client documents according to the organization's policy and procedures.
• Works closely with the local Long-Term Recovery Groups (LTRG) on coordination of cases, if applicable.
• Helps to minimize the risk of duplication of benefits which may pose barriers for recovery, and maintain the database being used for this purpose.
• Empowers the client to effectively access the resources available in accordance with the sequence of assistance for disaster recovery. Advocates for the client and refers outside resources to the client as needed.
• Schedules needed assessments or home visits with the Construction Manager when applicable.
• Works closely with the Construction Manager and Site Supervisor to address the clients' needs in a coordinated and collaborative manner.
• Performs other case management duties as required.
Potential Additional Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with Inspiritus’ Volunteer Manager to identify and meet volunteers’ needs.
• Ensure all new volunteers are settled, orientated and aware of base rules.
• Provide the Volunteer Group with Emergency Contacts for the community and areas of interest for leisure time.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager for job assignments and locations.
• Ensure the QR codes for logging volunteer hours matches the site and being completed on a consistent basis.
• Conducts and tracks exit interviews with departing volunteers and communicates this feedback to Volunteer Manager and the program staff.
• Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, preference for associate’s or higher degree.
• Prior volunteer coordinator experience is preferred but not required.
• One year of experience working with disaster survivors is preferred but not required.
• Experience coordinating and collaborating with local organizations, churches, and businesses.

Physical Demands:
This position may require extensive travel in the local area and may require driving on hazardous road conditions. Work may include entering homes with high risk of injury situations and substandard conditions. Requires routine operation of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Lifting of no more than 10 lbs, bending, standing, and walking.
