Title: Mobile Accessibility Developer
Location: Fully remote within the US
Duration: Inital 6 months plus extensions
Compensation: $60.00 - $80.00/hr

Summary
We are looking for a Mobile Accessibility Developer who would be responsible for designing and developing Android and/or iOS applications with a strong focus on ensuring users with disabilities can access and interact with the app seamlessly, utilizing Android and iOS accessibility features and best practices to create inclusive user experiences; this includes implementing features like screen reader compatibility, appropriate color contrast, and robust navigation mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accessibility Implementation: Integrate accessibility features into Android and iOS applications, such as text scaling, voice control, keyboard navigation, etc.

• Testing and Evaluation: Conduct thorough accessibility testing using automated tools and manual testing methods to identify and resolve accessibility issues.

• Collaboration with Design and Development Teams: Work closely with designers and developers to ensure accessibility considerations are integrated throughout the design and development process.

• Understanding Accessibility Standards: Stay updated with accessibility guidelines like WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and Android and iOS accessibility best practices.

• Code Review and Optimization: Review code to identify potential accessibility issues and optimize application code for accessibility.

• User Feedback Integration: Gather feedback from users with disabilities to identify areas for improvement and iterate on accessibility features.

Required Skills:

• Proficient Android and/or iOS Development: Strong knowledge of Java/Kotlin programming language, Android SDK, Android UI framework, Jetpack, and/or SwiftUI. Willingness to branch into second platform if focused on one.

• Accessibility Expertise: Deep understanding of Android and iOS accessibility APIs, and how to implement accessibility features effectively.

• Testing and Debugging Skills: Experience with accessibility testing tools and techniques to identify and resolve accessibility issues.

• User-Centered Design: Ability to think from the perspective of users with disabilities and design inclusive user interfaces.

• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and effectively convey accessibility concerns.
