What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Engineer, Investigations, Instagram position at Instagram?
We are looking for engineers with extensive experience investigating and analyzing online abuse, and actively implementing countermeasures. Our focus on data analysis and machine learning as well as our knowledge of the robust infrastructure of our back-end systems allows us to collaborate seamlessly with engineering, data science, and central operations teams to build tools and techniques necessary to enforce content quality at scale.This role focuses on the analysis and remediation of abuse of the Instagram platform by bad actors. You will work embedded with engineering teams as the investigator of and expert on the techniques, tactics, and procedures used by bad actors on our platform, assisting engineering leaders and teams to mitigate negative experiences on Instagram to protect our users from harm.

Security Engineer, Investigations, Instagram Responsibilities:
- Identify and investigate online bad actors that target Instagram and its users
- Work closely with others to identify sources of abusive behavior and take countermeasures to stop abuse
- Lead technical investigations from start-to-finish and effectively communicate actionable results to different audience types
- Manage multiple projects at once while prioritizing time based on team priorities
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics/Finance, Physics, Applied Economics, Statistics or other technical field
- 7 years of experience in an application security, abuse operations, or security investigations role
- Quantitative analysis and data science skills, with SQL and custom data pipeline tools
- Experience with PHP, Python, or other interpreted languages
- Experience with technical investigating and acting on high-impact threats and online threat actors
- Demonstrated understanding of security and integrity risks, and how they apply to Instagram and its users
- Experience working across the broader integrity/security/Trust & Safety community
- Previous experience in incident response, detection engineering and/or software engineering
- Familiarity with cross-platform integrity threats
