We believe AI and machine learning will be key factors across our products and company in accelerating our mission.Who You Are : BA / BS in Math, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fieldsAdvanced degrees preferred but not required, e.g. PhD or Masters Physics, CS, Stats, etc.12-15 years experience doing quantitative analysis, modeling and pushing ML into productionEntrepreneurial mindset with a mix of startup and large scale experience, bonus points for being a co-founderAdvanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, or similar) and experience with applicationsDeep understanding of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, or similar) and their real-world advantages / drawbacksStrong communication and presentation skills with a natural executive presencePast experience acting as a technical lead or manager of small-to-medium sized teamsExpert level fluency using languages like Python & SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large data setsWorking knowledge of common web / mobile architectures, data pipelines, CI / CD processes, etc.Strong understanding of DBT or other similar data transformation / organization methodologiesStrong understanding of the dynamics around two-sided marketplaces and / or other complex business models, with an emphasis on product acumenExperience with BI tools (e.g. Mode, Tableau, Looker)What You'll Do : Lead a small team of ML engineers and eventually grow a global team over the coming months and yearsSpend 70% of your time hands-on (building / integrating new models) and 30% of your time defining our ML strategy and managing the teamOptimize the team for speed and impact over patience and precisionOwn a portfolio of proprietary and third party platforms needed for day-to-day execution like MLOps, experimentation systems, and data transformation pipelines (DBT)Deliver best-in-class technical approach and problem analysis documentsImpact key company objectives by working closely with Product to refine our roadmapBuild / maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor the performance of our productsAct as a data evangelist to create a data-driven culture across the company and provide mentorship / feedback to analysts and other data-minded stakeholdersFor CA based applicants : The base salary for this position is $230,000 - $265,000This position is eligible for equity in the form of stock optionsThis position is eligible for Instawork benefits, including : A variety of medical, dental, and vision plans with coverage beginning on the date of hireFlexible paid time offAt least 8 paid company holidays annuallyHome office stipendPhone stipendCommuter stipendSupplemental pay on qualified leavesEmployee health savings accounts (HSA) contributionFlexible spending plans401K planPerkspot - discount program through LumityA variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location.
