About the Role
The ATDM Additive Manufacturing Technician will support the Additive Manufacturing Instructor in the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program. Assisting with instruction, ordering material for the operation of the program, and providing overall support to the ATDM program. The Technician may work nights and weekends to support classes. Some travel may be required.
Shift Availability
ATDM Instructors and Technicians are assigned shifts based on training needs. Shift assignments are based on business needs at the time of hiring, performance, and tenure. These positions require the flexibility to work all shifts as the program needs change. Your salary will include a shift differential based on the class times you are assigned to instruct. First shift classes start at 7:00 a.m. Second shift classes start at 3:00 p.m. Third shift classes start at 11:00 p.m. The current opening will support ATDM classes on second shift.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Machine set-up lab for instruction
- Setting up fixtures and tooling
- Aiding instructor during lab activities
- Maintaining consumables inventory
- Maintenance of cutting fluids
- Limited preventative maintenance on CNC and manual machine tools
Work Location
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
The Ideal Candidate

High School Diploma or GED

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Experience with Additive Manufacturing Slicing Software

Experience in Additive Manufacturing (3D-Printing) process of metals and/or polymers

Creative thinking/Problem solving attitude

Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments

Ability to lift 50 lbs

Shop safety

Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation

Technical math, including trigonometry

Lean and Six Sigma

CAD/CAM software applications

Advanced tooling practices

Salary & Benefits
IALR will offer a salary of $57,000 - $59,000 plus applicable shift differential.
