About the Role
The Curriculum Development Specialist is responsible for curriculum development and optimization for the Manufacturing Advancement department. Some of these activities include but are not limited to developing curriculum/content and updating curriculum/content based on student, instructor and industry feedback. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides curriculum development for ATDM and Manufacturing Advancement training programs
- Engages with instructional teams on a regular basis for feedback
- Mentor instructional teams on efficient use of LMS and instructional techniques, including classroom management
- Works with external partners to develop meaningful curriculum to meet the demands of industry
- Maintains current knowledge of existing technology and skills requirements relative to Advanced Manufacturing
- Serve as SME in instructional delivery techniques
- Monitor curriculum successes through classroom observation, instructor one-on-ones, student feedback and industry feedback to make necessary updates to curriculum
- Travel as required, which may include international travel.
- Serves as a self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Work Location
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or equivalent preferred
- Associates degree/Certificate in technical discipline preferred
- 5 years of experience in technical curriculum development or 10 years of experience in classroom education setting/education administration
- Knowledge of manufacturing preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in LMS design and management
- Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful relationships and partnerships
- Subject matter expertise on developing relevant curriculum with measurable outcomes
- Industrial experience or experience working with industrial partners in education is preferred
- The ability to communicate both orally and written is required
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel on case-by-case basis in support of Manufacturing Advancement
- Must be able to speak well in public settings; to effectively converse verbally and in writing.
- Ability to process vague, abstract verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work under stress, interruptions and tight deadlines.
- Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard.
- Light to medium physical work may be required.
Salary & Benefits
IALR will offer a salary of $64,000 - $78,000 plus applicable shift differential.
