About GO TEC™
Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC™) is a collaborative hub-and-spoke program, administered by the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, VA, that builds strategic talent pipelines from K12 to higher education. Starting in middle school, GO TEC partners engage students in Career Connection labs using hands-on learning for high-demand career pathways such as precision machining, welding, IT and cybersecurity, robotics and automation, precision agriculture, biotechnology, energy, mechatronics, and advanced materials.
About the Role
The GO TEC® Training Coordinator supports IALR’s economic transformation mission in partnership with the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM). This role works with K-12 educators to implement the GO TEC Career Connections curriculum, ensuring teachers receive industry-specific training and technical support for middle school labs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train and support Region 4 teachers through the Summer Teacher Training Institute and year-round sessions.
- Manage and maintain the GO TEC Region 4 Training Lab with CCAM staff.
- Provide technical support for equipment installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Develop instructional resources (in-person, virtual, recorded videos).
- Ensure curriculum alignment with industry needs and best practices.
- Audit instructional delivery to assess curriculum effectiveness.
- Organize student competitions in GO TEC focus areas.
- Engage with stakeholders to expand and enhance GO TEC initiatives.
- Represent IALR at events and disseminate program information.
- Travel to schools and IALR as needed, with occasional overnight trips.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, skilled mentor with a strong background in instructional technology and K12 Career and Technical Education Programs. In addition, the ideal candidate is eager to enhance hands-on, effective learning experiences in a variety of Advanced Manufacturing pathways. They thrive in collaborative environments and bring both technical expertise and a commitment to fostering workforce development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience using instructional and industry technologies
- Experience with the workflow of additive and subtractive manufacturing technologies, including 3-D modeling software applications preferred.
- Experience in developing curriculum and/or training to support education and workforce development preferred.
- Must be able to move freely between facilities
- Operate and maintain program and training equipment, manual dexterity.
- Light physical work may be required
- Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard
- May lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Salary & Benefits
