About the Role
The IT Specialist I provides first-level technical support to IALR staff, guests, and tenants through the IT helpdesk, while ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of audio/video systems in the Institute Conference Center. This role plays a critical part in supporting daily operations, events, and overall technology functionality across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, monitor, and break down A/V equipment and technology for IALR events; provide on-site support during events to address any technical needs.Conduct routine assessments and preventative maintenance of A/V systems in conference spaces.
- Provide helpdesk support, resolving technical issues and service requests as assigned.
- Support technology upgrades, including the installation of hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Re-image and deploy computers, and manage device replacements as needed.
- Assist with onboarding by setting up user accounts, email, phones, and other access tools for new and existing staff.
- Deliver basic training to users on hardware, software, and conference technology.
- Help maintain support systems and ensure accuracy of user account information.
- Recommend and implement automation or process improvements when appropriate.
- Contribute to IT policy and project development efforts.
- Support cybersecurity efforts through patch management and security risk mitigation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Location
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in computer related discipline or comparable related experience
- Windows software experience preferred
- Performs work of a physical nature that may require bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and repetitive motions of the hands, fingers and wrists
- Must be able to move freely between facilities
- Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard
- Must lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Salary & Benefits
IALR will offer a salary of $40,000 - $50,000 plus applicable shift differential.
