What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Courier/Media Prep Technician position at Institute for Environmental Health, Inc.?
IEH Laboratories, a Leader in Food Safety, is now accepting applications for a Laboratory Courier/Media Prep Technician position at its facility in Asheboro, NC.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
– A high school diploma or GED (required); an associate degree in Biology or related field (preferred)
– Basic math skills
– Good attitude and willingness to work with others
– Good communication and organization skills
– Ability to occasionally lift 50lbs above waist level
– Ability to regularly lift 30lbs above waist level
– A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
– Strong understanding of aseptic technique in the laboratory
Courier/Media Prep duties include: media preparation, sample prep, sample sorting and log-in, sample testing steps (under supervision), washing glassware, general laboratory cleaning, safely transporting samples from customers to the lab on a fixed schedule (trips can take up to 3 hours round trip), cleaning and maintaining coolers for sample transport, data entry, inventory control, and other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time position and is eligible for standard benefits after a brief waiting period. The schedule for this position is on a 12-hour rotational shift basis. The laboratory operates 24/7, so candidates must be willing to work nights, weekends, and potentially holidays.
