Job Summary
As an employment program assistant, you will ensure that the employment program has the administrative support necessary to ensure IHS guests and clients receive the training and services necessary to gain employment. This role requires a keen attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to follow through, working with the community, employers and populations of various comprehension abilities.
Essential Functions
- Match job seekers with openings : Work with employers to understand their needs and with job seekers to understand their skills.
- Help job seekers develop skills : Administer skill tests, revise resumes, and recommend training or educational programs to help job seekers develop their skills.
- Conduct mock interviews : Help job seekers prepare for interviews.
- Provide career counseling : Help clients identify their skills and develop vocational goals.
- Assist with benefits : Help clients understand how employment may affect their benefits, such as SSI or Medicaid, and refer them to benefits counseling as needed.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Schedule
Normal business hours including some evenings, weekends where volunteers provide training and job fairs may be happening. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization
