Job Summary:
The Director of Email Marketing will be a strategic leader, driving the vision and execution of our email marketing initiatives to engage, convert, and retain customers. This role will oversee campaign strategy, lifecycle marketing, audience segmentation, and performance analytics, ensuring that our email marketing efforts contribute significantly to business growth. You will play a crucial role in shaping our customer journey, from acquisition to retention, through impactful and data-driven email marketing strategies. Leading a team of email and content specialists, you will develop high-performing email programs that enhance engagement, drive revenue, and nurture long-term customer relationships. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive email marketing strategy aligned with quarterly sales and marketing goals to maximize lead acquisition, customer engagement, retention, and revenue growth.
- Own and manage the email marketing calendar, ensuring a strategic mix of promotional, educational, and engagement-focused campaigns.
- Oversee the creation, testing, and deployment of all email campaigns, including promotional, lifecycle, transactional, and triggered emails.
- Lead email automation efforts, building and refining customer journeys, drip campaigns, and segmentation strategies to drive engagement and conversions.
- Implement A/B testing and optimization frameworks to increase open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates, testing subject lines, content, design, send times, and segmentation strategies.
- Ensure alignment between email marketing and other digital channels, including SMS, paid media, social, and website efforts, for a seamless omnichannel marketing approach.
- Utilize Power BI, Salesforce, Klaviyo, and Marketo to track real-time performance metrics and optimize campaigns based on data-driven insights.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue attribution, engagement rates, list growth, churn rates, and unsubscribe rates.
- Re-engage inactive subscribers through strategic content and segmentation tactics.
- Maintain data hygiene and list management, ensuring compliance with email marketing best practices and regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).
- Oversee email deliverability monitoring, identifying and implementing best practices to maintain strong open rates and minimize spam issues.
- Own and manage Klaviyo, ensuring proper audience segmentation, automation workflows, and seamless integration with the broader tech stack.
- Oversee email system integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, and Marketo, ensuring smooth data flow and tracking across platforms.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Marketing, Sales, and Growth teams to ensure messaging consistency and strategic alignment across all customer touchpoints.
- Work with creative, content, UX/UI, and copywriting teams to develop compelling email campaigns that align with brand voice, storytelling, and design aesthetics.
- Lead strategic lead-generation efforts in partnership with the Sales and Marketing teams to grow email lists and optimize first-time conversions.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly manage and inspire a CRM Manager
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 7 years of experience in email marketing, CRM, or customer lifecycle management.
- Experience leading email marketing strategy for a direct-to-consumer (DTC) or subscription-based business.
- Strong understanding of Klaviyo, email automation, and list segmentation best practices.
- Proven ability to analyze email metrics, conduct A/B testing, and implement optimizations to improve engagement and revenue.
- Deep knowledge of customer journey mapping and lifecycle marketing.
- Hands-on experience with HTML/CSS for email, email design principles, and mobile-first best practices.
- Strong project management skills, ability to handle multiple campaigns simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and data privacy regulations.
- Experience managing and mentoring team members, with a focus on performance and professional growth.
- Excellent communication skills and a data-driven approach to marketing strategy.

Compensation:
$105,000-$127,000
The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
