POSITION DESCRIPTION
The CNA Instructor reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing and is responsible for providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete the nursing assistant training program through lecture, laboratory demonstrations, and the practice of skills. The CNA Instructor utilizes teaching skills, experience and abilities to create a positive, nurturing environment for students. The Instructor is also responsible for supervising students in a clinical training setting. The instructor must meet all instructor requirements as deemed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that BNA Classes are taught at the highest of standards of quality set forth by the Instituto BNA Program as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health
- Ensure students receive a copy of the course syllabus and course outline
- Follow proper grading guidelines and student privacy standards
- Responsible for preparing students to provide quality physical care and emotional support to all patients and successfully complete the CNA Certification Exam, securing their pathway for success
- Provide the Associate Dean of Nursing regular student status updates as well as alerts to possible performance barriers
- Assist in identifying and facilitating proper remediation strategies
- Ensure classroom and lab spaces are well maintained
- Promptly report missing or damaged items in the lab or classroom
- Ensure students follow attendance policies, dress code, and professional standards at all times
- Ensure students’ grades and attendance are documented in a timely manner
- Produce quality classroom presentations and assignments in a timely manner
- Maintain appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards
- Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments and exams to meet established goals and deadlines and assess student learning
- Inform the Associate Dean of Nursing of any potential scheduling conflicts or changes in a timely manner
- Ensure that credentials remain up to date and provide appropriate documentation
- Mentor, monitor, and model the standards of excellence set forth by the BNA Program
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years nursing experience
- Completion of IDPH Approved Illinois Evaluator Certificate
- Completion of the CNA/BNA Instructor Train-the-Trainer course
- Alzheimer’s Content Certification from State of Illinois
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider
- Working knowledge of computer basics
- Two years previous teaching experience in a nursing training program
Illinois Administrative Code Requirements
- Registered nurse with a minimum of two years nursing experience
- Must have minimum one year of experience caring for the elderly or the chronically ill of any age through employment in a nursing facility (long-term care), extended care unit, geriatric department, chronic care unit, hospice, swing bed unit of a hospital, or direct care
- Must be approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health to teach CNA/BNA clinical and/or theory classes

Majority of work performed in a general office environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
