Registered Nurse Job Description: Louisville, Kentucky
Job Title: IVF Registered Nurse
Our Practice is expanding and looking for an IVF Registered Nurse to join our team. This position is 4 days a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) in our Louisville office location. Experience in infertility is appreciated but not required.
Primary Purpose: The Registered Nurse at the Institute for Reproductive Health assesses plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates the education and care of the infertile couple in both the office and IVF Laboratory settings. The Registered Nurse develops and implements teaching plans which recognize the unique needs of the patient seeking reproductive endocrinology and infertility services, and communicates effectively with patients, family members and other IRH employees.
Organizational Relationships: Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager via the Charge Nurse
Training requirements/Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse and current State of Kentucky nursing license.
Competency Requirements: Safety Topics Training, Phlebotomy
Patient Contact: This position involves provision of infertility nursing care to adult patients, which requires an understanding of the principles of adult learning. The nurse must also be sensitive to the stress experienced by the patients, couples and families, as well as able to deal with the stress inherent in caring for them. As caregivers, the nurse must be knowledgeable and sensitive to infertility issues and guide patients in ways to facilitate resolution, healing and wholeness, whether or not a pregnancy is established.
Financial Impact and Responsibilities: collection of payments and co-payments, verification of patient insurance information, verification of superbill completion and activities that support meeting financial goals and objectives.
Physical Requirements: Functions in normal office and office-based surgery environment. Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks: The Registered Nurse at the Institute for Reproductive Health will practice in accordance with the Standards for Implementing the Nursing Process as a Registered Nurse.
1. Demonstrates nursing clinical skills necessary for making assessments of the physical, psychosocial, spiritual and educational needs of the patient by utilizing the nursing process and based on the standards of infertility nursing practice
2. Plans and implements nursing care for the infertile couple based on assessed needs
3. Evaluates the plan of care in relation to patient response and documents effectiveness of nursing interventions
4. Maintains positive customer service standards in daily contact with patients, co-workers, physicians, visitors, and others.
5. Maintains professionalism
