About the role

IGD is seeking an experienced and innovative Press and Social Media Manager to join our growing communications team. This role will be instrumental in driving both proactive and reactive media engagement across trade and national outlets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social media strategy, content development, and media relations, with a keen eye for detail, strong written and verbal communications skills and an ability to integrate media strategies with IGD's broader go-to-market plans.

 

The responsibilities

Reporting to Communications Director these include:

Press Office & Media Relations

  • Proactive and Reactive Press Office: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the press office, ensuring timely responses to media inquiries and proactive engagement with journalists.
  • Media Liaison: Act as the key point of contact for internal stakeholders, delivering IGD’s perspective and messages to trade and national media.
  • Media Monitoring & Reporting: Manage media monitoring subscriptions, track relevant coverage, and provide regular media overviews to the executive team and key internal departments.
  • Relationship Building: Meet regularly with key trade media outlets, journalists, and trade associations to build and maintain strong relationships, ensuring consistent media presence for IGD.
  • Content Creation: Ensure all communications align with IGD’s SEO strategy and are optimized for key channels.

Social Media Strategy & Content Development

  • Social Media Strategy: Lead the social media strategy for IGD’s LinkedIn and Instagram channels, ensuring content is aligned with business objectives and the go-to-market plan.
  • Content Creation & Reporting: Develop engaging content for social media, including regular posts, stories, and updates, while ensuring effective reporting on performance.
  • Social Media Innovation: Drive innovation in IGD’s social media approach, continuously seeking new ways to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Integration with GTM Strategy: Ensure that social media campaigns are fully integrated with IGD’s go-to-market and marketing strategies, collaborating closely with the channel marketing team to align content.

Team & Communication Management

  • Internal Communication: Manage and distribute the Monday morning round-up of media coverage and key events to the executive team and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Media Coverage Updates: Regularly update key trade media on IGD news, features, columns, and awards, ensuring IGD remains top of mind.
  • Collaboration with Communications Team: Work closely with other members of the communications team to ensure business-to-business and trade media updates are managed effectively and in line with IGD’s overall strategy.

 

What you bring

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: experience in a press and social media management role, ideally within the food or sustainability sector.
  • Media Relations: Proven ability to build and maintain strong media relationships with national and trade journalists.
  • Social Media Expertise: Strong knowledge of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram) and a track record of developing effective social media strategies.
  • Content Creation: Ability to create compelling, relevant, and engaging content for social media channels and press releases.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience in reporting and using data analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of media and social media campaigns.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with different teams, including marketing, communications, and social impact.
  • Proactive & Organised: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • SEO & Digital Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of SEO best practices and how they integrate with social media and media strategies.
