Job description:
Assistant Dean of Clinical Operations for the Associate of Science Nursing Program reports to the Dean of the Associate of Science Nursing program. The Assistant Dean of Clinical Operations manages student clinical placements and clinical faculty for various clinical experiences planned throughout the nursing curriculum. All components of clinical placement are managed by the Assistant Dean of Clinical Operations; including, but not limited, to agency contracts and their required compliance for faculty and students, student and faculty orientation, clinical practice requirements, and scheduling. Oversight of the currently established relationships with clinical sites including periodic site visits. Assist in annual evaluation of clinical faculty. Assist with on campus lab requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees appropriate clinical placements for students learning outcomes in the nursing program
- May provide clinical/lab instruction each semester.
- Responsible for lab inventory, compiling orders, organizing inventory.
- Represents the ICHS Nursing Department with clinical affiliates and maintains communication with agency personnel
- Maintains information regarding changes in requirements for clinical placements and facilitates compliance through communication
- Maintains existing contracts and relationships with clinical sites
- Supports the Nursing Department to manage clearance for clinical placement using Complio and evaluates student readiness for clinical such as CPR, CORI, Annual TB, etc.
- Serves as a professional resource for clarification of medical clearance requirements.
- Conducts clinical site visits as needed & promotes ongoing communication
- Provides Nursing Dean with number of faculty needed for labs/clinical coverage
- Confirms all placements with faculty prior to start of clinical
- Collaborates with Dean to interview and hire clinical faculty.
- Provides accurate schedule of clinical faculty to Nursing Dean
- Organizes and conducts pre/post-clinical meetings with faculty
- Facilitates communication between clinical faculty and course faculty
- Plans faculty coverage when needed.
- Assists clinical specialists with scheduling of faculty in clinical rotations
- Works with Associate Vice President of Community Affairs to establish relationship with new clinical sites for clinical learning experiences and prepares related reports for consideration;
- Assist with the Sim lab creating simulations and providing recommendations for simulation needs/scenarios to the simulation lab coordinator.
- Oversees, reviews and verifies Typhon data for grading and reports.
- Trends clinical placement data and makes recommendations for systematic program evaluation.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
Possess a minimum of five years full-time nursing experience (or its equivalent) within the last eight years, and evidence of competence in the area of clinical/lab instruction.
Be current in Healthcare Provider CPR (within the last two years and to be renewed every two years).
