Job Summary
The Digital Media Specialist is a vital role within the IONS Experience & Engagement team supporting the mission, messaging, and impact of IONS work. This position interfaces with departments and staff across the organization and is responsible for promoting the IONS mission via various communications channels.
Under the day-to-day direction of the Associate Director of Marketing Communications, the primary responsibility of the Digital Media Specialist is to source, format, and maintain compelling content delivered via communications outlets, including our website, social media channels, and email.
Success in this position will require the ability to multitask and prioritize topics that match our mission and objectives, critical thinking and keen attention to detail, deep collaboration and proactive coordination, and wide-ranging creative communication skills balanced with technical know-how.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
General:
- Support the communications process of IONS messaging
- Create, edit, and coordinate media collateral across all communications channels
- Maintain tagging and technical systems for existing communication pipelines for lead generations
- Assist with development of new and existing marketing and communications pipelines
- Nurture IONS' social media presence
- Uphold the IONS brand, visual design, and voice
- Respond to web-specific inquiries and direct other requests to appropriate staff
- Maintain policies, procedures, and technical tools used to support communications production and distribution functions
- Coordinate digital assets, including image repository, video files, memes, presentation templates, graphic design files, and banners
Production:
- Maintain IONS communications calendar
- Format and distribute emails including e-newsletters, marketing and promotion, news blasts, and campaign communications
- Update website text and imagery
- Maintain website forms their interface with other applications, such as Active Campaign and Zoom
- Create and process digital graphics
- Coordinate IONS blog schedule, including content entry, image research, and facilitating cross-departmental input
- Project manage communication elements of Development department campaigns, such as the annual report, social media campaigns, email and printed appeals, and working with outside vendors
- Convert, format, and edit audio and video files for web distribution
- Ensure all communications content is consistent in style and quality and is optimized for search and user experience
- Provide technical support, backend hosting backup, and customer service for live online offerings via Zoom and other platforms
- Work closely with the IT teams to ensure fully up-to-date web server maintenance
Communications Outlets:
- Maintain IONS website
- Maintain IONS social media accounts, including YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Maintain email lists and tag sets for target audiences
- Collaborate with Fund Development Department for accurate list management
- Provide metrics reports on website traffic, social media interactions, and email campaign performance
In addition, this position requires the following:
- 2-3 years of on-the-ground experience in: marketing communications; creating content for the web and social media; administering content management system-driven websites
- Exceptional proofreading skills
