Job Title: Program Director – Occupational Degree & Degree Programs

Reports To: Director of Education

FLSA: Non - Exempt


DEFINITION:

Each Program Director is responsible for the orientation of new instructors and the continued professional development of instructors within their program. Program Directors are also responsible for communicating class content to students so that learning occurs, skills are developed, and students are motivated to continue to learn and to achieve their educational objectives. In addition, the Program Directors also perform related work as required.

Under general supervision of the Director of Education, the Program Director is responsible to:

  • Update the syllabus for each course assigned and distribute to all students within the first two class sessions.
    • Include, as part of the syllabus, specific learning objectives expressed in behavioral terms.
    • Schedule and submit a copy of each syllabus to the Campus President.
  • Teach the depth and scope class material as outlined in the syllabus.
  • Prepare and grade examinations based upon course objectives.
  • Administer examinations according to schedule announced to students in syllabus.
  • Work creatively to discourage student withdrawal in all classes taught.
  • Begin class at the designated time and provide a full period of instruction for the class period involved.
  • Submit, at designated time, final grades for all students and maintain weekly grade sheets.
  • Accurately enter attendance on the attendance roster indicating a student's presence in their class.
  • Call all students who are absent more than two days and report pertinent information to the Student Success Leader.
  • Attend communication meetings, faculty meetings, in-service sessions, student orientation, graduation, and other school events as required by the school.
  • Maintain Curriculum Development and delivery at the campus level. Maintain Curriculum Integrity on Network Server.
  • Support the Campus SSL to develop Retention Strategies for programs within their division. Contribute educational related outcomes to the Quarterly Campus Improvement Plan.
  • Coordinate division substitute teaching assignments. Substitute teaches when needed.
  • Coordinate ordering consumable supplies for the division, if applicable.
  • Complete purchase orders for consumable supplies, place orders, and forward purchase orders with receipts or other documentation to the accounting office.
  • Submit proposals to the Executive Team for requested changes in program textbooks or other supplies and works with the executive office to coordinate ordering when new textbooks/supplies are approved within their division.
  • Drive and monitor course specific certifications appropriate to their division.
  • With direction from the Director of Education- coordinates divisional Advisory Board Meetings; including taking meeting minutes.
  • Recruit potential advisory board members for each program within their division.
  • Identify instructional material and equipment needs for their division based on division curriculum, instructor requests, and Advisory Board recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Program Director shall demonstrate experience and education as required by the State Regulatory Agency where the school presides and in accordance with the guidelines established by the schools accrediting body for the coursework that the Program Director is overseeing.


Education and Experience

The Program Director must meet the Education/Experience requirements of the Instructor position for the Occupational Degree or Degree program they oversee, and have at least two years of experience in school or business administration, teaching, or other experience directly related to their duties within the school’s organization obtained within the last five years; or any additional relevant combination of education and experience as determined by the Campus President. One year supervisory experience is preferred.


Other

A valid Driver's License may be required.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work under pressure of constant deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Noise exposure under 65 decibels, roughly that of a normal conversation or a ringing telephone.
  • Schedule changes may occur based on business needs.
  • May be required to travel to locations other than assigned site.

Monday - Thursday 10 hours shift, overtime after 10 hours
