Nurse Educators play a key role in delivering educational content to students, ensuring that they acquire the necessary knowledge, develop critical skills, and maintain motivation to reach their academic goals. This teaching role spans both in-person classrooms and hybrid distance learning environments. Reporting to the Nurse Administrator, Nurse Educators in the Practical Nursing program may be tasked with teaching various courses, with the specific focus varying based on the program and term.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Hybrid Learning Environment
- Interact with students in a professional manner, offering constructive, encouraging, substantive, and timely feedback.
- Conduct video lectures and/or discussion (using Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams).
- Tutor students as necessary during office hours and/or video conferencing tools.
- Counsel students regarding their performance in the course (both positive and negative.)
- Encourage critical thinking, participation, and discussion by all students.
- Quickly identify and address problems with course content or technology.
- Provide timely grade postings and feedback.
- Communicate with students on roster.
- Participate actively in course discussions, ensuring that all students are participating and interacting with one another. Facilitate discussion, call attention to other approaches, and answer specific questions raised by students.
On-Campus Instruction
- Update contact information shared with students for each course to include Nurse Educator name, method of contact and office hours.
- Distribute a class syllabus to all students within the first class sessions.
- Prepare and grade applicable on-campus examinations based upon course objectives.
- Begin class at the designated time and provide a full period of instruction for the class period involved.
- Leaves the classroom or laboratory clean, organized, and ready for the next class

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a valid, unencumbered OSBN license are required. Additionally, at least three years of related work experience are required.
