Job description
The purpose of this position is to provide fast and accurate service that ensures Instone is the customer’s first choice. The basic function is to provide estimates for the fabrication and special-order operations. This position represents the company as the leading authority and supplier of natural stone and dimensionally fabricated stone solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills and be detail oriented. A team player is a must. Knowledge of estimating, AutoCAD & natural stone a plus but not required.
SUPERVISION AND SCOPE:
The work will be performed under the supervision of management. The position will work closely with accounting and administrative personnel and adhere to corporate policies and procedures.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
The Estimator’s primary areas of responsibility & contribution are:
1. Estimating
o Evaluates, reviews & prioritizes incoming requests which filter through a CRM system
o Create quotations for special orders and fabrications
o Process & quote customer supplied templates
o Build relationships with key clients & vendors
2. Special Orders & Fabrication
o Creates special purchase orders
o Creates shop orders for fabrication
o Develop shop drawing sets
o Input shop labor hours and material usage
3. Sales support
o Provide support to outside salespeople
o Provide inside sales support to existing customer base
o Interface with designers and architects as required
4. Cross Function Support
o Work with Fabrication & Purchasing departments to forecast material requirements
o Work with and support Yard Team with fabrication and special order transactions
o Work with Sales & Management to promote new and existing products
PERIODIC DUTIES
The specific work to be performed by this position includes the following tasks:
Daily
· Prepares quotes & sales orders for fabrication orders
· Prepares quotes & sales orders for template orders
· Prepares quotes & sales orders for special non-stock items
· Prepare fabrication work tickets for fabrication manager
Weekly
· Attend weekly estimating meeting
· Follow-up on all outstanding sales quotations
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain excellent customer service relationships. Must possess the ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, change priorities and remain productive in a fast-paced work environment. The general diversity of tasks requires the ability to take direction and carry out work independently and has the capacity to be a self-starter and a quick learner is important. Ability to produce complete conceptual estimates taking into consideration client needs, program requirements and existing conditions. The position requires a high proficiency with personal computer applications including Architectural Design, Computer Aided Design, Word and Excel, and a high degree of knowledge of the Company’s information and accounting package Sage 100. Must be a highly effective team-player with various departments throughout the organization. Prior experience in the construction trades and/or architectural design, specifically in natural stone distribution and fabrication a plus.
JOB RESULTS:
Job results are measured by comparing and rating the employee’s performance relative to the Key Result Areas defined above. This activity is done during the Annual Review and periodically as required by the employee’s supervisor.
AUTHORITY LEVELS:
The position involves accounting and administrative duties, which involve verification that required approvals have been obtained and established procedures have been followed.
ANNUAL REVIEWS
Annual performance evaluations are to be prepared by the estimating department manager.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
