Job Title: MENTAL HEALTH CLINCIAN
Reports To: ASSISTANT SUPERINTEDENT OF INSTRUCTION
General Job Description:
The Mental Health Clinician will provide direct mental health services to include: assessment; consultation; evaluation; treatment plan development; treatment coordination; individual, group and family therapy services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish positive, trusting rapport with students and families.
- Follow the established referral process through the schools Multi Layered System of Support and assess whether referred students meet qualifications to receive Mental Health Services in the school setting.
- Complete intake assessments with each referred student utilizing a collection of data (i.e. observation, interview, informed assessment) to assist in identifying a student’s individual need and appropriate services.
- Assess students’ needs through the use of mental health screening tools including, but not limited to, the GAD-7, PHQ-A, and CRAFFT to aid in assigning a diagnosis and recommending appropriate interventions.
- Survey students using the GPRA questionnaire at the time of intake, at 6 months and at termination of services. Transfer GPRA information to the site evaluator within the prescribed timeframe.
- Create individualized treatment plans according to students' needs assessments, diagnosis and circumstances; adjust these plans as necessary.
- Provide students with Direct Mental Health Services on a schedule that aligns with treatment fidelity of the prescribed method for intervention.
- Direct Mental Health Services will include individual, group, and/or family therapy.
- Maintain a caseload of students utilizing good time management and ensure all assigned tasks and deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in a HIPPA compliant platform: case notes are to be submitted 10 business days from the completion of service.
- Work in collaboration with the Peer Navigator to refer students to community resources.
- Attend and actively participate in supervision as required by professional standards, code of ethics and New Mexico Administrative Code.
- Attend all meetings and training as assigned and/or as required.
- Prioritize tasks demonstrating flexibility and working collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
- Demonstrate adherence to all applicable professional standards, codes of conduct, laws, and confidentiality requirements.
- May be required to perform other duties/functions as directed by your supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- Must hold a current, valid license as one of the following: Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred; Marriage Family Child Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department and has to be renewed as required by state regulations.
- Master’s level degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
- Experience with psychological services and evidence-based methods
- Experience with school aged students and their families and support systems.
- Must hold a Valid Driver’s license and Car Insurance and travel from site to site

Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds), climbing stairs, reaching, squatting, kneeling, having full mobility of fingers/hands, and moving light furniture may be required, unless ADA accommodations have been mutually agreed on and does not create an undue hardship upon the district.
Safety and Health:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions (blood borne pathogens, body fluids, etc.)
Equipment/Material Handled:
Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, multi-media equipment including current technology.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hours work may be required. Site/school visits is required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
This position is part of the Project Aware Grant and is contingent on continued funding through 2026.
Employment in this position is contingent upon continued grant funding and the position will conclude upon the expiration of the grant. Renewal or extension of the position is subject to the availability of future funding.
Salary : $84,800 - $91,602
