Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as the Director of Hardware, Next Generation Platforms. This role will oversee the development of scalable, high-volume electromechanical medical devices, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, manufacturability, and performance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medical device development (Class II/III), with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, and a proven ability to lead teams through the entire product lifecycle—from early-stage innovation to full-scale launch.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medical device development (Class II/III), with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, and a proven ability to lead teams through the entire product lifecycle—from early-stage innovation to full-scale launch.
This leader will inspire a high-performing team, drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure alignment with Insulet's strategic vision for next-generation platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in the development of innovative, next-generation consumer medical device platforms.
- Oversee collaborative efforts with manufacturing, clinical, regulatory, supply chain, and quality teams to deliver high-quality, high-volume medical devices.
- Establish and drive mechanical and electrical engineering roadmaps, ensuring alignment with Insulet's core strategy to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and sustainable platforms.
- Oversee all aspects of team management, including scheduling, task prioritization, workload balancing, performance reviews, training, and budgeting.
- Attract, retain, and develop top talent, fostering a highly engaged and motivated team.
- Engage in voice-of-customer research to ensure user needs and insights shape best-in-class device design.
- Partner with operations and manufacturing to ensure alignment on short- and long-term strategies for new and existing technologies.
- Collaborate with sourcing teams to identify components and suppliers that meet feature, cost, quality, and availability requirements.
- Drive design reviews and ensure adherence to medical device standard design control best practices.
- Scale teams and processes from small early-stage development to larger-scale commercialization.
- Participate in strategic planning, support innovation roadmaps, and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve exceptional results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of directly related work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven record of product development, product launches and navigation through all phases of engineering
- Extensive experience leading the design and development of Class II/III medical devices.
- Proven track record of scaling teams and processes from early development through launch.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability, especially for high-volume production.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and align strategies across departments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements for medical devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $186,000.00 - $279,000.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
