Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and their family members with warmth and professionalism.
- Collect and verify demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information to ensure accurate patient registration and financial clearance.
- Process signed physician orders and maintain an organized work queue.
- Conduct insurance eligibility and benefit verification, as well as provide financial education regarding patient liabilities.
- Collect co-payments, deductibles, and deposits at the time of service, ensuring accurate payment processing.
- Enhance the patient experience by demonstrating knowledge of Sutter’s Health system and services throughout all interactions.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain positive relationships and ensure seamless communication across departments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and adapt to new processes as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; additional education is a plus.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent relevant experience in patient access, financial counseling, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of insurance and medical terminology, as well as familiarity with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., EMTALA).
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficient in various computer systems, including patient registration and accounting software.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on active listening and customer service.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
