Travel Echo Tech job duties

- Prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Perform diagnostic echocardiograms, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms, to assess heart function and structure.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality to obtain high-quality images.
- Position patients correctly and apply gel to the chest area to facilitate sound wave transmission during the echocardiogram.
- Capture and record accurate images and measurements of the heart's chambers, valves, and blood flow using ultrasound equipment.
- Analyze echocardiogram results and identify any abnormalities, providing preliminary findings to cardiologists for further evaluation.
- Document patient information, procedure details, and observations accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
- Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings, ensure accurate diagnoses, and provide comprehensive patient care.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining the cleanliness of the ultrasound equipment and examination rooms.
- Educate patients and their families on the echocardiogram procedure, including any pre-test preparations and post-test care instructions.
- Monitor patients during echocardiogram procedures, recognizing and responding to any adverse reactions or changes in condition promptly.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advancements in echocardiography techniques and practices.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of echocardiography practice.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating echocardiogram appointments to ensure efficient workflow and minimal patient wait times.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff and echocardiography students, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
