While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel ICU responsibilities :
Prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Perform diagnostic echocardiograms, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms, to assess heart function and structure.
Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality to obtain high-quality images.
Position patients correctly and apply gel to the chest area to facilitate sound wave transmission during the echocardiogram.
Capture and record accurate images and measurements of the heart's chambers, valves, and blood flow using ultrasound equipment.
Analyze echocardiogram results and identify any abnormalities, providing preliminary findings to cardiologists for further evaluation.
Document patient information, procedure details, and observations accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings, ensure accurate diagnoses, and provide comprehensive patient care.
Ensure a clean and organized work environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining the cleanliness of the ultrasound equipment and examination rooms.
Educate patients and their families on the echocardiogram procedure, including any pre-test preparations and post-test care instructions.
Monitor patients during echocardiogram procedures, recognizing and responding to any adverse reactions or changes in condition promptly.
Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advancements in echocardiography techniques and practices.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of echocardiography practice.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating echocardiogram appointments to ensure efficient workflow and minimal patient wait times.
Supervise and mentor junior staff and echocardiography students, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Requirements
ACLS / BLS (AHA)
