The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Principal UX Designer to join our Corporate IT team based remotely in Raleigh, NC. Senior professional contributor that is an expert in applying established standards; knowledge base acquired from several years of experience in the area of User Experience Design. Systems thinker that focuses on the creation and delivery of innovative user-centered digital products and services. This role creates successful user experiences through requirements gathering, research, feedback, analysis, design, testing, and user-centered design best practices. Contributes to the company's goals through driving user experience design and strategy efforts across affected business units, departments, and new opportunities. The person will act as an expert and will work across teams to improve user experience in a way that provides business value. Some of the Principal UX Designer responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Serves as expert and key point of contact for UX efforts at the project level while adhering to company UX best practices and processes, bringing consistency across projects and products by reusing proven design patterns.Applies best practices for human-computer interaction, user-centered design, Design Thinking, and accessibility to designs.Accountable for all UX activities from research and discovery through product design quality testing and user satisfaction measuring phases.Quickly gains an understanding of the business context of projects and design problems. Works with the project team to understand problem space : insurance industry products, trends, influences, competitors, user groups, and new product requirements.Uses designs to facilitate delivery team conversations and decisions that unite user needs, business objectives and technical feasibility. Collaborates with programmers / engineers, quality assurance, the company's various businesses, marketing & communications, and other stakeholders and departments to create a unified customer experience. Works closely with product owners to translate user journeys and task flows into designs and planned product release roadmap.Creates and executes user research plans, analyzes and presents key findings.Incorporates actionable business and user insights into prioritized design changes, prototypes and specifications for development. Composes user interface designs, defines the content strategy, information architecture and interaction design requirements of the application that can later be translated into the product. Updates designs as required based on new information.Creates rapid high and low-fidelity prototypes to illustrate, test, and vet designs with users throughout process and communicate product vision.Stays on top of current industry trends and UX best practices through relevant newsletters, websites, studies and conferences. Shares insights with teammates through presentations or suggested changes in work processes and drives changes and best practices within team.Designs visual user interfaces in a pleasing way that complies with graphic design principles, the company's brand standards, and design system.Participates in agile ceremonies by providing access to designs and clearly communicates approved interactive design to the development team. Writes user stories and acceptance criteria for discussion with the product owner. Conducts design quality assurance testing to identify and remedy interactive design gaps.Drives Intact design system, shared knowledge base of UX recommendations and other UX workflows to create efficiencies to remain nimble.Supports development of more junior team members.The expertise you bring
B.A. or equivalent in design strategy, business administration, psychology, communications, graphic design, or a related field7-10 years of digital design experience in a corporate, agency or start-up settingPortfolio of UX-focused work for web and mobile applications demonstrating expertise.Expert in heuristics and human-computer interaction concepts.Must have strong background in numerous UX areas of research, usability, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, content strategy, prototyping and specific tools and methods with each area.Must have expertise in digital design, graphic design, typography, interaction design and creating visuals to present information architecture and design concepts to stakeholders.Should have strong background in agile scrum development environment and working with software development teams.Apply accessibility best practices and standards (WCAG) to designs.Sketch, Abstract, InVision, Zeplin, Figma, Slack, Microsoft 365 / Office / Teams, Zoom, JIRA, HotJar, Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager / Data Studio, Remote usability and user-behavior measurement tools and methodsOutstanding communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; demonstrate expertise in communicating complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization; demonstrated ability to communicate in both the business and technical environmentsKnowledge of responsive, adaptive, mobile, and interactive and application design techniques, limitations, and guidelines; Familiarity with front-end development concepts : HTML, CSS, Javascript. Angular and web browser considerationsOur salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is : $128,000 - $149,000, based on the factors aforementioned.
