The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Filing & Compliance Specialist to join our Corporate Legal team based in our Plymouth, MN office on a hybrid schedule. The Senior Filing & Compliance Specialist will analyze data requirements, secure necessary information, and prepare and timely submit company-wide, and business-specific state regulatory filings. Draft state amendatory and state-specific endorsements. Anticipate and respond to state agency requests on filings in coordination with businesses, enterprise underwriting and actuary, when necessary. Develop and execute filing strategies, providing guidance to business and IT partners. Train and mentor new state filing team members and recommend improvements in process and procedures. Some of the Senior Filing & Compliance Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and submit filings to all state insurance departments, including:
- Filings for new and revised programs;
- Filing to adopt, defer, or deviate from industry and bureau forms, rates, and rules;
- Developing state amendatory and state-specific endorsements, manual pages, or rule and rate deviations for product compliance, either independently or in conjunction with stakeholders; and
- Prepare filing memos, forms listings, and other documents needed for filing.
- Manage and respond to insurance department product filing requests, within deadlines, independently or by coordinating with stakeholders.
- Develop filing strategy by applying extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and previous responses to product filings, offering guidance to business, IT, and other stakeholders while providing guidance on, and developments within, the filing process.
- Consult on filing matters to anticipate and enhance product development by maintaining knowledge and records of requirements for filing, fees, notices, and approvals.
- Compile data and assist in response to data calls in a timely and efficient manner.
- Research competitor filings and industry trends for use with new or revised products.
- Develop and provide guidance on cancellation, conditional renewal, and nonrenewal notice to policyholders.
- Work with IT and related teams to implement and validate product requirements.
- Train new team members in filing requirements, providing guidance and continued support as needed.
- Maintain records on forms, rates, and rules for current products and historic reference.
- Provide support to team members and other business partners to develop new or revised products, services, processes, and procedures.
- Research on special projects as needed for legal, underwriting, finance, and other teams, on topics such as commercial deregulation, New York Free Trade Zone use, state requirements regarding extended reporting period offerings, and notice requirements.
The expertise you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred with 5-7 years of experience in insurance functions required.
- System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF) experience required.
- Regulatory research experience required
- Professional insurance industry designations preferred.
Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience, and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $83,000 – $117,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $104,000 -$122,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
