We are seeking to hire a full-time Department of State (DoS) Case Advisor for our Exchange Visitor (J-1 Visa) Sponsorship Program (EVSP) department.

The DoS Case Advisor will be responsible for evaluating, preparing, and processing special J-1 visa sponsorship cases that require review by the U.

S. Department of State (DoS). This role works in close coordination with DoS staff to ensure compliance with federal regulations and DoS guidance.

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time position typically works 7-hour workdays, Monday - Friday, with a hybrid schedule, working in the office two days a week for most of the year, with three days a week in the office required during the department's peak period (roughly April - July).

Additional hours may also be required during the peak period.

SALARY (Starting at $65,000 annually)

Any offered salary is determined based on competency and skills, prior relevant experience, required degrees / certifications, internal equity within the organization, and market competition.

About the Role :

As a DoS Case Advisor you'll play a vital role in facilitating the careers of international physicians as they transition through the J-1 visa sponsorship process.

You'll work closely with the U.S. Department of State (DoS) to evaluate, prepare, and process sponsorship cases requiring special appeal to the DoS and serve as a key point of contact between physicians, institutions, and DoS staff.

This is more than a job; it's a mission-driven opportunity to support physicians from around the world seeking to complete clinical training in the United States.

You'll be instrumental in managing stakeholder relationships while ensuring compliance with J-1 visa regulations and DoS guidance.

Key Responsibilities :

Case Management : Evaluate applicant eligibility and supporting documentation for compliance with J-1 visa regulations and policies;

prepare cases, including drafting case summaries, for DoS review.

  • Client Relations : Serve as key liaison between the DoS, physicians, and institutions, fostering these relationships on behalf of EVSP and providing guidance, support and timely response to inquiries.
  • Regulatory Oversight : Use SEVIS, a government database of J-1 visa holders, as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) to submit and track case-related requests and maintain applicant records, ensuring accuracy of critical data.
  • Collaboration & Outreach : Proactively conduct outreach to increase awareness of relevant J-1 sponsorship policies and processes, mitigate potential issues, and be a trusted resource for stakeholders.

Qualifications :

  • 4 years of case management experience, ideally in a health care- or immigration-related setting.
  • Background in U.S. medical education and / or immigration strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding attention to detail; excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and a high-volume workload when needed.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to address complex issues with discernment and cultural sensitivity.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
